The whirlwind romance between Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson has fascinated us since they professed their love on Instagram. Their relationship is either sweet or the worst idea ever, depending on who you ask. They got engaged a month after they started dating, and all signs pointed to a wedding before the end of the year.
But after the sudden death of Ariana’s ex Mac Miller, things have hit a snag.
An insider spoke to In Touch about the couple’s turmoil. “She was on cloud nine planning the big day… but Mac’s passing has really shaken her up,” the source added. As far as how Pete’s feeling? “He’s fine with postponing the wedding,” the source revealed. “He just wants to be there to comfort Ariana. He knows Mac’s death is incredibly difficult for her.”
Mac Miller passed away of what seems to be an overdose on September 7. Until May of this year, Mac and Ariana were apparently solid. Behind the scenes, however, Ariana was struggling to help Mac overcome his addictions. Some of his fans have decided that his death is Ariana’s fault.
Ariana Did Everything She Could
Mac’s close friend Shane Powers revealed that Ariana did everything she could to help him. “Ariana and him were together, and they were very much in love. And I have to say, she was incredible when he was first sobering up. She was a f—–g G to him,” Shane explained. “There could not have been anybody more supportive of him being sober than Ariana.”
A Tragic Anniversary
The news of Mac’s passing came just before the anniversary of another loss. Pete Davidson lost his NYC firefighter father on 9/11. Pete and Ariana both got tattoos to honor his father—“8418” was his dad’s badge number—and he gave her the actual badge to wear as a pendant. There was speculation that the two might get married on August 4th to have the special digits as their wedding anniversary.
