Lady Gaga—Stefani Germanotta, if you’re nasty—made a big announcement this week during her speech at Elle’s Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration. Dressed in a bronzey-beige oversized suit with Kardashian-esque styling, the diva thanked her fiancé, Christian. That’s right, Lady Gaga is engaged.
Who is he? And what other bombshells did Lady Gaga drop at the mic? Keep reading to find out!
Agent to the Stars
Christian Carino—soon to be Lord Gaga—is an A-list agent based in Los Angeles. He reps Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Harry Styles, among many others. The 49-year-old agent has been supportive of her career at every turn, escorting her on the red carpet and joining her on the road as she tours. They’ve been dating since January of 2017. This will be Carino’s second marriage; he shares a daughter with ex-wife Brooke Baldwin.
Pretty in Pink
Y’all want to know about the ring, right? It turns out that she’s been wearing it throughout her press tour for A Star Is Born. The center stone is a sweet pink sapphire or diamond surrounded by a halo of white diamonds. It’s similar in style to the iconic blue sapphire engagement ring passed down from Princess Diana to Duchess Kate. Experts estimate that the ring cost somewhere between $300,000 and $400,000.
Given her history with pushing boundaries in fashion, we can’t wait to see her wedding dress. We’re hoping for at least one costume change. And that none of the outfits are made of meat.
Lady Gaga initially caught some criticism for her massively oversized Marc Jacobs suit. The huge shoulder pads and slouchy silhouette seemed like a step back for Gaga’s styling, but it turns out there was a good reason she chose to rock a power suit.
“I tried on dress after dress today getting ready for this event, one tight corset after another, one heel after another, a diamond, a feather, thousands of beaded fabrics and the most beautiful silks in the world. To be honest, I felt sick to my stomach,” she said in her powerful speech to the crowd in L.A.
“We women in Hollywood, we are voices. We have deep thoughts and ideas and beliefs and values about the world and we have the power to speak and be heard and fight back when we are silenced.”
Amen, sister. We can’t wait to see how Lady Gaga will use her voice next.
